Toughness is a material's ability to absorb energy and resist impacts without breaking: the difference between a part that chips and one that takes the hit. It is the opposite and complementary property to stiffness, and for dynamic components it matters more than any other. Materials such as nylon and TPU, or kevlar fillers, offer high toughness.
